History of Christos Valley Estate

Scroll through our timeline and go on a journey through the events that shaped Christos Valley Estate into what we are today.

2015 - Present

1999

In The Beginning

The vision was to craft a premier vineyard through the fertile soils in the Lower Chittering Valley that replicate those of Europe, giving some high-level fruit for winemaking.

2008

Change in Ownership

The Christos family purchased the property with the same enthusiasm and vision as the original owners. Named now “Christos Valley Estate” for its next chapter. The initial property manager continued to work with the Christos family for some 5 years providing a healthy and robust handover.

Flavours of Chittering commences its journey and the long-awaited new Christos Valley vineyard was opened to the public for the first time. Attendance was around 1200 patrons.

2009

Making Magic

Production began throughout the property including and in particular our wines. We finally introduced our wines range under our new brand 'Christos Valley Estate' brand. These wines were:

Chardonnay

Viognier

Verdelho

Shiraz

Cabernet Sauvignon

Dessert Wine

2011 - 2012

Continuing our Craft

We entered some of our wines in the Perth Hills Wine show 2011 and won: Viognier - Best Wine of the show and Reserve Shiraz - Gold and best Red

Given the great success of the Flavours of Chittering attendance, Christos Valley Estate embarked on local fresh local fruit and goods markets. Continuing to open to the public was a major success bringing over 4000 patrons each Sunday morning. For those that attended, an experience that will “Never be forgotten”.

2015 - Present

Refining Perfection

Over the years the Christos family has continued to improve and develop the property. We have planted more than 10,000 plants/trees. That range from 450 olive trees, with some 10 different varieties to get a mix of oil-producing and pickling olives, that will eventually go on sale when open to the public. With our front entry vines, we developed and grafted approx. 500 table grapes, with various varieties. And finally, fruit trees throughout the property ranged from Peaches and Plums to Apples and Walnuts.

We intend to open the gardens to the public in phases over the next few years, varied events.

2017 Verdelho

Made from 100% Estate grown Verdelho fruit planted some 20 years ago (grafting origin from France), the wine displays lifted characters of Citrus and Peach complemented by Green Apple and spic undertones on the nose leading to a palate with pure flavours of Pear and Kiwi fruit balanced by a crisp and refreshing finish.
